Be warned about construction work currently at hotel. Banging, sawing and drilling. Worst is the drilling,. Forget peaceful mornings and afternoon naps. Stay away for 6 months until they finish their expansion project. Unfriendly, grouchy french manager.
The location is truely beautiful, and the bungalows have a rustic feel but very safe. The views from the bar are lovely and very romantic.
There were a lot of sea urchins in the sea by the bungalows, you had to keep an eye on where you stepped which impacted on enjoying the sea.The food costs are also out of proportion to Vietnam. As this is a remote Island there has to be a mark up on food, but the quality is not there and there is no options of what to eat - you either eat it or don't eat it but its $12 per meal any way.
It is a amazing location, where we were able to enjoy the fanatastic nature of Vietnam. We had a Bungalow with beach excess. The Bungalows itself are not luxury, but with this amazing surounding, this is not necessary. The food was very good on two days of our stay, the last day it was ok. The staff their is amazingly friendly and very warm. The snorkeling in the bay of the resort is also great, we saw a deep blue big sea star and a correll of a diameter of about 3 meters, wowowow. We can warmly recommend this amazing location!!
The onliest thing what we (the girl :)) thought would be good, is a security person during the night.
There was noise from fishing boat 24 hrs a day
Beautiful island, spectacular and clean beach, friendly stuff.
The hotel is located in a rather remote place - approx 2 by car hours from the nearest city plus 20 minutes on boat. Facilities are rather basic - no aircon, tv, 1 socet per cabana. Food is only provided on schedule and with a fixed menu, no choice. No other restaurants on the island. Enterntaiment facilities are rather basic - there is a diving centre, though it has been closed during our stay.
Awesome location! An island with just one resort. Beautiful sea and beaches. Very close to nature.
We came here in November (not high season) and faced some difficulties with local staff. Although there were plenty of additional facilities like snorkeling, canoeing, yachting or massage there was nobody to provide these services even after we asked for it twice at the reception. Unacceptable. Do not expect staff will understand your English. Moreover, even the staff at the reception desk is not good in English. It seems there was no manger nor supervisor responsible for overall business - at least we did not notice. Be prepared for some 'wild life' in your bungalow - I understand what type of the location it is, however I have been to a number of similar places when they somehow managed to cope with this issue.
peace and quiet. eco friendly relaxing location staff are friendly and helpful picturesque scuba and water activities excellent food
Staff, nature, lagoon, Sea, people we met, Food, Bungalow we had, harmless cute lizards on the beach, jungle trail, diving possibility... for us, best resort ever. So if you are a couple, looking for a hideout or possibility to just relax... this is for you. Time just flew...
WE JUST LOVED IT! NO COMPLAINTS!
The location, the relaxed layed back environment
I guess more activities to do other than water sports.
Beautiful, just like staying on "gilligan's island",beach huts & lagoon, very quiet, starey skys ,u can not see anywhere else in vn,the diving in clear water fantastic, not much fish, but alot of coral, food limited, but, sufficient, not too expensive,300k vnd per meal 28k vnd beer
Excellent value for money especially for divers who want to view one of Vietnam's best dive site. The set course meals only costs $27 for lunch and dinner. You can take tea or have a cocktail at the bar with the view of the whole bay, its more beautiful than some of the five star resorts you can stay in Vietnam. Most people seem to stay for 3 nights on the way north or south of their Vietnam tour. Its worthwhile staying longer if you just want to swim and chill out. There are Booked.nets and Hobbies for hire. It only takes two hours to Booked.net the whole island. For Hobbie lovers check the main mast is all the way up to avoid being hit by the boom. Also they replaced the tiller with a very heavy metal bar so be prepared to do some arm work.
You have to be tolerant of the noise by other tourists and the staff during the day and night. Although you can hike to a quieter end of the bay the rubbish in even the prettiest beaches on Mango Bay is not ideal. Bring ear plugs if you are that much of a light sleeper.
We liked the place very much. It is very calm. The drinks here are very tasty, they don't add water, what is done in many places in Vietnam. The sea and the beach are very clean. They have many services at the beach - catamaran, windserfing, snorkeling, thow we didnt't try anything.
Our bungalow was opened for all kinds of fauna. We felt not very comfortable at nights surrounded by rustles and noises coming from lizards and other night creatures. On the first day the sea was sortmy, the weather was windy making the beach not very pleasant, so we went to see the island and stayed to swim and sunbathe at the pearl beach (as it called on the map they give you) - the sea there was calm but not very clean. Dinner and lunch packages are overpriced (15$ and 12$/pax) and drinks are not included in their price. Transfer to the island is expensive (for Vietnam) - 20$/pax.
This place is amazing, from the beach bungalows to the isolated location.
Food was good, but squid and pork on the menu too frequently
The lunch and dinner could've been a lot better
Great location! Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Good food!
English knowledge is poor among most of the workers. No lifeguard so keep an I on each other when sailing/windsurfing. Some annoying noice from passing fishing boats, but you get used it ;)
